Tervetuloa tutustumaan lajiin ja katsomaan jännittävää Oulu vs. Jyväskylä ottelua Niityaron kentälle (Kaarnatie, lähellä Flextronicsin toimitiloja), 14.8.2011 klo 10:00-15:00. Paikalla krikettikoulun ohjaajat kertovat mielellään lajista ja opastavat sinua hauskan harrastuksen saloihin.
Kriketti on parhaimmillaan mukaansatempaava laji jossa voit tutustua uusiin ihmisiin. Koska laji on Suomessa melko uusi, ovat kaikki kurssille osallistuvat samalla lähtötasolla. Ja kuten lajin henkeen kuuluukin, voittaminen ei ole tärkeää vaan rehti peli.

Luovan tauon jälkeen on jälleen jotain uutta tulossa Oululaiseen krikettiympäristöön.

Krikettikoulu aikuisille alkaa ensi kesänä. Koulussa käydään läpi kriketin perusteet sekä tutustutaan pelivälineisiin ja tietenkin päästään pelamaan krikettiä. Kurssin vetäjinä toimivat Oulun krikettiyhdistyksen omat ohjaajat sekä suomen krikettiliiton valmentajat.

Kurssi on suunnattu kaikille lajista kiinnostuneille. Tarvittavat välineet ja varusteet tulevat koulun puolesta. Mukaan tarvitset vain verkkarit ja lenkkarit.

Toinen krikettivuosi Oulussa menestys

Oulun kriketti yhdistys pelasi ensimmäisen "oikean" ottelunsa Alajärvellä elokuussa. Ottelu oli osa kriketin edistämistapahtumaa jossa Alajärveläiset saivat seurata Oulun ja Jyväskylän välistä ottelua sekä kokeilla krikettiä.

Miten ottelussa sitten kävi?
Jyväskylä otti hienoisen voiton aivan muutamalla pisteellä. Kyseessä oli niin kutkuttavan pieni ero että tulos olisi voinut olla yhtä hyvin toisinkin päin (lisää pelistä Alajärven Ankkurien kotisivuilla http://www.alajarvenankkurit.fi/kriketti/).

They all exist, but only as pawns in an online mystery currently being perpetuated by the so-called Fake IPL Blogger, whose regular updates supposedly from the inner sanctum of the Kolkata Knight Riders dressing room have set tongues wagging on both sides of the Indian Ocean.

The blogs, posted at fakeiplplayer.blogspot.com, have included such in-depth accounts of team meetings, many of them centering on alleged tensions between the central characters of the IPL's most glamorous franchise, that many web users do not want to believe the whole thing is a hoax. Especially when the coaching methods of Bhooka Naan (John Buchanan, the former coach of Australia) and the power base of Phoren Baba (Brendon McCullum, Kolkata's New Zealand captain) so plainly irritate Lordie (the deposed skipper Sourav Ganguly) in real life.

FCA AGM - venues I like to participate

It has been a while since I wrote last time but this means that lot has been done. I participated a FCA AGM and presented our club from north. During next week, there will be a decision from the PRH (patentti ja rekisterihallitus). So Oulu Cricket Club finally becomes registered club.
All in all, we are proceeding as planned. Next summer will be the summer of cricket in Oulu with OCC.

Wow, this test macth will remain fine memories in my life forever, created historic win and one of the greatest victory by Inidan team athome after the worst times ever facing by the nation due to terror attacks, little cheer to the Indian people esp. Mumbaikars, as our little master devoted this victory and his ton to the Indian people esp. Mumbaikars. One good thing for Indian test squad is that, yuvaraj came solid with his innings by making 85 and obviously little master Sachin made one of the best innings according to me, more patience, under pressure, elegant and more balanced innings. One will never forgot the innings by Shewag and Gautam, shewag play natural and outrageous play whether it is Test or ODI, its great innings. I think we should appreciate the England squad for coming bakc to India for playing test macthes for its solidarity towards India. England euqally played good and dominant cricket until 4th day but final day is something outstanding by Indian cricket team, great batting display. England will look for consolation win in the 2nd test on 19th Dec 2008 after loosing ODI's and One test match. lets see how the second test goes, India would definitely look to sweep the test series at mohali.

Fascinating Final Day : Ind v Eng 1st Test match in Chennai

Tomorrow is the Final day for Ind v Eng 1st Test match in Chennai, until 3 days, England players dominated the game, after taking the lead in first innings and set a target of 387 to India. Until tea break, everyone thought England would win the test match comfortably with providing tough target to India but after tea break (4th day) India played the second inng's score 131/1, it seems the game took big turn due to the outrageous start by Sehwag's batting ( i just love Viru batting, he is amazing, excellent show, and simply superb), now England had to think little mroe serious to win this test match on the final day. Still many things can happen on the final day, the match is on balance but still England are still favorites on the patchy wicket, spinners will be key esp. Swann. But India had lot of batting to come, they have the chance to win this test match, if they can score 90 +90 runs in two sessions even though they loose couple of wickets then target can be achieved (it is not so easy to bat on final day esp to face spinners with huge turn on the wicket).

England's bowlers proved that it doesn't matter how many thousands of runs a top order has, each innings is a new one and all batsmen are human. A fine combined effort from the five-man attack reduced India to 155 for 6 in reply to their 316 on the second day in Chennai. Graeme Swann grabbed the spotlight with two wickets in his first over in Test cricket and three strikes in the final hour - one apiece for Monty Panesar, Andrew Flintoff and Steve Harmison - allowed England to cement unexpected control.

The pitch has already played a part in this fascinating contest and chasing in the fourth innings isn't going to be easy. There was help for Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra, but also for England's spin pair as Swann and Panesar matched them. After stumbling to 37 for 3, courtesy Swann's two in four balls before tea, India partially recovered through Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. But their dismissals in consecutive overs after the break stunned the crowd into silence.

Flintoff produced another of the chest-thumping spells for which he has become famous. With his first ball back he had Tendulkar caught and bowled and then got under the skin of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. THE hottest thing in world cricket is pace sensation Dale Steyn and South Africa coach Mickey Arthur says the young quick set to take on Australia has "unbelievable potential".
The 25-year-old right-armer - who is yet to play a Test against Australia - can bowl outswingers at 150km/h and tops the 2008 wicket-taking list with 60 scalps in 11 Tests.

Critics have already attacked Steyn, saying he's yet to prove himself against Australia.

Arthur says the first Test at the bouncy WACA pitch in Perth will give the Australian public the chance to see just how Steyn has been able to claim 136 wickets at 22.67 in 27 matches.

ECB set to confirm India Test series will go ahead
• England's security inspection in Chennai is completed
• Team expected to fly to India at end of week via Abu Dhabi

The England and Wales Cricket Board expects to confirm within hours that the Test series of India will go ahead after the completion of a security inspection in Chennai. The ECB remains confident despite the febrile atmosphere surrounding the tour that the bulk of the squad will accept the security report that a tour of India remains legitimate and will decide to travel.

Reg Dickason, the ECB's security adviser, completed today what appeared to have been a satisfactory inspection of the Chidambaran Stadium, the new venue for the first Test on December 11. He told Press Trust of India: "We had some security concerns and these have been addressed." Dickason now flies on to Mohali, venue for the second Test, and a similar outcome is expected within 48 hours.

But the feeling is hardly mutual from the New Zealanders who collapsed on Saturday morning, losing 4-8 to be bowled out for 270 then watching Australia take control of the second Test.

Thats right, the score in game played in adelaide oval is 6/262. It is the first inning and Brendon McCullum and Daniel Vettori are batting. Aaron Redmond, Jamie How, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, Peter Fulton and Daniel Flynn being bowled out.

At the same time in India, the british cricket team is figuring out what to do. Jeetan Patel replaces Kyle Mills

The offspinner Jeetan Patel will join New Zealand's squad for the second Test starting in Adelaide on Friday. Patel has been named to replace the fast bowler Kyle Mills, who missed out on a spot at the Gabba and will be released so he can play in the State Championship for Auckland this week.

"I was really disappointed not to play here, especially as the conditions up here and the humidity really suit my style of swing bowling," Mills said. "I will go home to get a bit of cricket because if I stayed here and did not play at Adelaide it would have meant three weeks without a game. While I haven't played here I have been working hard in the nets but getting a few games for Auckland will help me get and maintain some rhythm."

Andrew Symonds's Test career in the balance after alleged bar-room brawl

TROUBLE-plagued cricketer Andrew Symonds says he was the victim of an overzealous fan following reports he was involved in a pub fight at a Brisbane hotel at the weekend.

Management of Brisbane's popular Normanby Hotel went into bat for the Queensland all-rounder as Cricket Australia launched its own investigations into the incident.

"It's been reported I was involved in a pub fight on Sunday night. I would just like to take the opportunity to clarify this report," said Symonds in a statement released through Queensland Cricket.

"A member of the public acted unreasonably towards me while I was with friends at which time I took steps to remove myself from the situation.

Shah shines after monsoon but India mop up series

backyard cricket

Hi guys
Once again we survived the working week.
As I mentioned in my earlier post this week, we have many options on how fast and on what intensity we get involved in the national level cricket. But one thing which I think we all can agree is that everyone who wants to play can play. So there should be multiple levels of cricket teams and games that we play here in Oulu. After all, it wont be long when we can teatch cricket in schools for the kids. Think about that also.
But for now... It is week end so let us enjoy our wel earned time with family and friends,, and maybe some cricket literature also. And to get your brains in the week end mode I am giving you an idea. In Australia they used to play cricket everyhere,, it was called backyard cricket. Have you ever thought of palying cricket here in Finland on ice? If not ,,, look at this you tube video from estonia:

prosess of the team

Hi everybody
As I promised to tell about the prosess of becoming a team, here it is.

I made first contact with the national cricket assosiation in Finland couple of months ago and we are in the prosess of finding options for the club. These options involve of how and what kind of club establish in Oulu.

As you propably know, the other national level clubs are in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Vaasa. So we are to be the most northern club in Finland (at least at the moment). The distance from Oulu to Helsinki is about 8 hours ride in bus. So I am interested to hear and read your opinion of do we wish to partisipate in competition level and when?

What comes to the actual timetable: If we would like to start palying now, we would need a indoor place. To apply for these premesis is not difficult, but they are very popular. We might not be able to get a indoor place in the middle of the season, for this winter anymore, but for the year 2009-2010 it should be possible.

This means that the first games will be playen on summer 2009, outdoors.

About the equipment. For the team we need some basic equipment in the begginning. Also for the equipment arrangements I am still analysing our options. Also the idea of getting us a sponsor is important.

So, all in all. I need to dig deeper into the cricket acticity in Finland(there are certain customs in finnish cricket scene already and eventually we need to adopt some of those rules).

Eventually, when I have all the necessary facts, I could give you a presentation.

I hope this gives you some kind of idea where things are.

Before I write you about the prosess of becoming a real club, I would like to share something with. This one of the things that got me inspired in cricket. The waca (western Australia cricket assosiation) field in Pert Australia. It is a beutiful ground and there is also a museum integrated in the facilities. You can go for a guided tour on the field. Needless to say, the guides are former criceters or great fans of the game.
So enjoys the links and lets be careful otu there,,, once again it is a slippery weather.
